**About the Role**
The Principal Local Precincts is an exciting role that will help shape future land use integration with our rapidly expanding transport system. Taking a leading role across Victoria with land use planners at State and local levels, the role will ensure integrated transport and land use is achieving priority Government policies and outcomes.
Collaborating with experienced transport planners, the Principal Local Precincts will lead the economic and social development of locally significant precincts, achieving a connected transport network, embedding 20minute neighbourhood principles and translating the land use directions from Plan Melbourne and Regional Growth Plans
With demonstrated expertise in the management of multi-disciplinary internal expert or consultant teams and delivery of complex urban renewal and/or greenfield projects, you will have a hands-on role as a precinct champion facilitating outcomes in a highly complex public-sector environment.
Significant strategic planning, statutory or urban design experience is required. Excellent communication skills are necessary to provide briefings to the Minister, stakeholder, and governance groups.

- Provide principal level guidance within the Locally Significant Precincts branch to lead the development of frameworks for prioritising transport routes and corridors, interchanges and any other aspect of the transport system that will improve network performance, within the context of locally significant precincts.

- Analyse the performance of the transport system and refine and refresh these transport plans and strategies to ensure system performance goals and service outcomes are met, within the context of locally significant precincts.
- Understand and plan for the network implications of emerging transport trends and ensure that precinct, corridor and modal plans are kept fresh and relevant in the face of changes to transport demand, emerging technology, and changing social preference, within the context of locally significant precincts.
- Prepare and oversee the development of complex briefs and presentations on land use implications to inform transport strategy and network planning.
- Provide Principal level direction to transport agencies as they develop plans for their components of the network and ensure these are consistent with the department’s transport plans and strategies.

To be successful in the role of Principal Local Precincts, you will possess a diverse skill set encompassing leadership, influence, strategic planning, environmental scanning, written communication, stakeholder management, integrity, conceptual and analytical ability, and creativity and innovation. You should demonstrate team commitment and the ability to translate organisational strategy into meaningful long-term plans for your area of responsibility, motivating others to achieve goals.
Your influence and negotiation skills should extend to gaining agreement for proposals, building support for ideas, and utilising indirect channels of influence. You will excel in strategic planning, thinking at the big picture level and translating strategic direction into day-to-day activities. Environmental scanning is essential, involving monitoring external sources and identifying trends, while your written communication should be clear, concise, and grammatically correct. You should excel in stakeholder management, building mutually beneficial partnerships and resolving stakeholder issues innovatively. Integrity and a commitment to the public interest are vital, as is conceptual and analytical ability, creativity, and innovation.
