**The Opportunity**

The School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE) has an opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow. You will conduct research in the field of tandem photovoltaics (PV) on the OMEGA Silicon project led by Prof Ekins-Daukes. You will have the opportunity to develop new solar cell technologies plus develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally through contributing to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals, participating in conferences and workshops, and actively engaging with industry partners.

The Postdoctoral Fellow reports to Dr Alison Ciesla (SPREE) and has no direct reports.
- Level A, Salary - $100,318 to $107,299 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Full time
- Fixed-term contract - Initial 12 months with view for an additional 24 months
- Location: Kensington - Sydney, Australia

**Skills & Experience**:

- Have a PHD in a related discipline and/ or work experience
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- The applicant must have experience/expertise in one or both of the following:

- Silicon solar cell fabrication and analysis. Required experience: Silicon solar cell fabrication (from silicon wafers to solar cells including HF etching, diffusion, passivation and metallisation) and analysis (e.g. I-V, EQE, PL, EL, LBIC).
- Solar module assembly and stability testing. Required experience: Solar module fabrication (connection and encapsulation of cells into modules), characterisation (e.g. I-V, PL), experimental design and analysis (e.g. Taguchi design).
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures.
- Optical spectroscopy and electrical characterisation. Required experience: Some combination of the following: modulation spectroscopy (in particular using lock-in detection), ultrafast spectroscopy of exciton/charge transport dynamics (e.g. via transient absorption), electrical and optical device characterisation, and experimental design and building.
- Organic/silicon hybrid interfaces. Required experience: Silicon interface functionalisation with organic materials, interface morphology and spectroscopic analysis (e.g. GIWAXS, UPS, XPS).
- Nanoscale thin film synthesis. Required experience: Thin film deposition (e.g. ALD, PECVD, CVD) and analysis (e.g. SE, FTIR, Raman, AFM) on silicon, ideally for use as passivating contact layers.
