**Role**:
Leading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school.

Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.

Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school's education program.

Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.

Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.

**Responsibilities**:
The Inclusion and Diversity Leading Teacher will be a member of the School Improvement Team and an active and visible leader of the College. They will lead and manage the implementation of whole school improvement initiatives related to the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. They will drive improvement through educational leadership within the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes.

Key aspects include:

- Promote a culture of Respect, Initiative and Learning.
- Lead the development of a College Inclusion and Diversity statement.
- Lead the College’s implementation of the Disability Inclusion reforms in accordance with DET requirements and the 3-tiered funding model.
- Drive the College’s delivery of educational adjustments and targeted support for Tier 1, 2 or 3 funded students.
- Oversee and lead key personnel, including the Disability Inclusion Program (DIP) Coordinator, teaching and education support staff, responsible for the delivery of educational adjustments and targeted support for Tier 2 or 3 funded students.
- Ensure the in-class staffing support provided to funded students is equitable and effective.
- Oversee and attend HWKC meetings and provide advice to school leadership on Tier 3, 2 and 1 students.
- Organise and facilitate assessments in partnership with wellbeing staff and school leadership and external agencies as required.
- Identify and prepare an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for targeted students in collaboration with student, family, and classroom teachers. Build the capacity of key staff to develop IEPs.
- Document IEPs on COMPASS and ensure that all staff are aware of these adjustments.
- Oversee Student Support Group meetings, case management and targeted intervention and support Sub School Leaders and relevant staff to convene Student Support Group (SSG) meetings each term for each student who has an IEP.
- Ensure that the school's reporting and assessment is in line with any IEP or DIP requirements for each student.
