APS6 Program Officer position available. Contract until 30 June 2024 with view of extension.

**Your new company**

This Federal Government Department is taking the lead to support Australia’s Plant Biosecurity portfolio. Currently, they have a need for high performing APS6 Program Officers to contribute to the planning and implementation of Programs that deliver departmental initiatives and strategic business reforms.

**Your new role**

The Program Officer position will support the design and implementation of key programs. As a Program Officer you will undertake program management, manage relationships and negotiate with stakeholders.

As you will be engaging and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally, well-developed communication skills, with the ability to foster professional relationships whilst building rapport and trust is a must.

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Assist the Director in redefining the objectives of the board.
- Coordinate submission, review, analysis and development of reports to inform the board on the health of portfolio programs and projects.
- Assist in secretariat and administrative functions to support the board, team and division.
- Support project and program planning, scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
- Provide advice to support project management capability development within the division
- Support divisional business planning, performance reviews and risk management process.
- Analyse, interpret and efficiently coordinate requests for information from across the division.
- Contribute to document control, continuous improvement and maintenance of team sites.
- Work under pressure, prioritise and manage time, effectively supporting a small team to achieve its collective goals
- Communicate and work collaboratively with the team and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes
- A good understanding of documenting and managing risk controls is desirable.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful in this role, you will have previous experience in a similar position within Federal Government or equivalent. As well as this, you will have:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in program design and management, project management and/or policy implementation.
- The ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously when required.
- The ability to be flexible and deal with ambiguity.
- The ability to foster professional working relationships whilst building rapport and trust.
- Manage effective and productive working relationships with internal staff, senior executives and external stakeholders throughout relevant jurisdictions and the Commonwealth.
