***: Principal Epidemiologist - Prevention & Population HealthWorking within the Public Health Division, the Principal Epidemiologist, Prevention and Population Health will be part of the Public Health Intelligence Victoria (PHIV) team.
This team is part of the newly established four pillars of the public health system reform; system architecture, engagement and partnerships, intelligence and agile decision making, and digital systems and technology. The vision for Victoria's public health system reform responds to the learnings from COVID-19, and includes a focus on trust and confidence, social determinants of health, intergenerational wellbeing and the principles of value-based health care.
The public health system reform will build on the investments made during the pandemic to develop a resilient and sustainable public health system, with a focus on delivering outcomes that matter to all Victorians. As Local Public Health Units (LPHUs) expand their remit to deliver prevention, regulation and response functions, teams within the four pillars of the Public Health Division will partner closely with the LPHUs and other key stakeholders to create a ‘backbone' for improving Victoria's health system resilience and sustainability.
The new Public Health Intelligence for Victoria function has been established to:
- translate health data into actionable insights, creating and embedding a new centralised intelligence function across the entire spectrum of public health surveillance,
- provide the required analysis, interpretation and evidence to inform decision-making for the rest of the Public Health Division (PHD), and the Local Public Health Units (LPHUs), to deliver on their programs of work, and
- guide program areas in identifying the best use of data to inform the delivery of value-based care.
Are you
- An experienced Epidemiologist with significant expertise, experience and/or relevant qualifications in the field of public health and/or health system surveillance?
- A flexible and accountable leader, with the ability to build relationships, co-design strategic public health intelligence and surveillance across Victoria and negotiate tactfully with senior stakeholders?
- Able to work in complex contexts to identify risks, gaps and solutions, by working collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders to deliver public health outcomes over the short, medium and longer term?
