**Division Responsibilities**

The Primary Care Division leads and delivers policy and programs to support equitable

access to quality, coordinated and culturally appropriate primary health care services at the

centre of the health system that improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians across

the life course.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Primary Care Access Branch is responsible for the delivery of programs and policies to

improve access to primary care and empower Australians to actively manage their

healthcare needs regardless of their location, health literacy or socioeconomic status. The

Branch is exciting and high profile, tasked with leading and managing primary health care

policy and reform, as well as implementing key Government election commitments and

priorities from the Strengthening Medicare Taskforce. The branch is responsible for a

diverse range of programs nationally relating to After-Hours, Healthdirect, access to primary

care in rural and remote areas and General Practice Grants. The Branch values diversity,

and innovation. The work of the Branch intersects with a significant number of related

matter.

**Section Responsibilities**

Current opportunities are available across various sections within the above branch.

Successful applicants will be placed on a merit list and may be offered a position elsewhere

in the Primary Care Division.***

**Key Responsibilities**
- Developing, implementing, and assisting in the evaluation of high-profile national

health policies, legislation, programs and projects and related grant opportunities.
- Taking the lead in drafting a range of documents such as policy advice, reports,

briefs, agenda papers, minutes, and correspondence, for a broad range of audiences.
- Analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of information/data from various sources to

inform future policy/program direction.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and managing projects

collaboratively, including organisations, other government agencies and expert

advisory groups.
- Contributing to program management including but not limited to:

- Grant opportunities and associated responsibilities.
- Procurement, including but not limited to procuring evaluation services and

contractors/consultancies.
- Undertaking filing and records management functions ensuring records are accurate,

complete and are managed in accordance with departmental policy.
- Making a positive contribution to branch and divisional culture and activities; and
- Other duties in line with the APS6 work level standard as directed.***
