**The Role**
The Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner (OFSC) works to promote safe and productive work sites in the building and construction industry. Representing the Federal Safety Commissioner, the OFSC administers the building and construction WHS Accreditation Scheme (the Scheme) by organising onsite inspections by Federal Safety Officers to assess the safety of construction sites.

The OFSC consists of five sections: Operational Policy and Compliance; Accreditation Operations; Intelligence, Systems and Engagement; Scheme Governance and Assurance, and Scheme Education and Outreach. Each section performs a crucial role in maintaining the Scheme and supporting the Commissioner.

Please note the preferred location is Canberra where our main office is located, but other locations will be considered.

The following roles available in the OFSC:
**Scheme Education and Outreach Assistant Director** - this is a new role focused on improving the understanding of the operation of the Scheme across all sectors of the construction industry. The role includes promoting the benefits to companies of obtaining Scheme accreditation through development of presentations and webinars and engagement with industry and industry associations. The role also supports the development and implementation of Scheme guidelines and policies relevant to participation in the Scheme.
**Intelligence Systems and Engagement Assistant Director** is responsible for management of the WHS Accreditation Scheme company reporting, including timeliness and Scheme reporting education. The role includes, managing staff, and liaising with the Scheme Governance and Assurance team to coordinate data input. This role has the responsibility of coordinating engagement for the Scheme, with case studies, webinars and delivering guidance material. The role also undertakes policy work within the OFSC such as preparing briefing for Senate Estimates and providing advice to Government about the Scheme.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
**Education and Outreach Operations Assistant Director**:

- Creating engaging content (webinars, presentations, web content and guidance materials) to communicate effectively with new applicants to the Scheme and companies already holding Scheme accreditation.
- Preparation of briefs to the Federal Safety Commissioner recommending a range of actions related to the administration of the Scheme.
- Clearing or preparing responses to complex queries received regarding the Scheme, audits, audit criteria, accreditation or reporting obligations.
- Supervision and mentoring of a small team of APS Education and Outreach Officers.
- Obtaining and maintaining an in-depth understanding of the Scheme’s relevant legislative, policy and procedural frameworks.
- Contributing to operational program and/or policy development, and program design.

**Intelligence, Systems and Engagement Assistant Director**:

- Policy work including preparing briefing for Senate Estimates and coordinating the OFSC’s input to the Government response to the independent review of the Federal Safety Commissioner.
- Managing reporting officers in the receipt, assessment and processing of approximately 2,000 incident and Scheme Biannual reports submitted by Scheme accredited builders annually, including the management of report timeliness.
- Planning, coordination and delivery of educational webinars, case studies and other WHS guidance materials for Scheme accredited builders.
- Management and coordination of Federal Safety Officer and Federal Safety Commissioner ID cards.
- Management of OFSC sponsorship arrangements and event coordination.
- Responsibility for the OFSC Reporting Inbox for managing Scheme reporting queries.

**Operational Policy and Compliance Assistant Director**:

- Extensive knowledge of safety systems and practices, or relevant experience that would demonstrate an ability to quickly gain the required knowledge and skills.
- The ability to manage relationships with senior external company executives and Federal Safety Officers.
- Excellent communication skills in a technical environment, with both internal staff and external stakeholders.
- Experience in managing staff and ensuring quality output from the team.
