Our client is a well-established environmental organisation based in the Logan region that specialises in the delivery of niche, field-based projects, rehabilitating and improving natural areas and parks infrastructure. Reporting to the CEO, we are currently seeking a General Manager that is ideally experienced within the sector, to lead the team in daily operational activities whilst managing profitability and growth of the business.

Your role will be responsible for leading a team of around 35 staff (5 direct reports) in daily operations, aligning with the company’s strategic direction and delivering projects on time and on budget, to the highest quality for your clients. This will include HR, financial management, resourcing and planning as well as working with the CEO to align company goals with process implementation in the workplace. Other tasks will include:

- Implementing new processes, systems and directives as per the Business Plan
- Guide Division Managers in daily operations, planning for projects, contract management and resourcing
- Recruitment and HR management - Assisting the Operations Manager with recruitment activity, performance management, safety and risk management, personnel forecasting, policies
- Finance - Reviewing annual budgets, cost control, and ensuring that the company is profitable on projects being delivered
- Client and stakeholder relationship management
- Overseeing quality management system (ISO certified) compliance, safety and environmental standards

The role is fast paced, will be hands on, and offers an attractive remuneration package with bonuses, and a skilled team with a high reputation in the market for quality project delivery.
- Experience in a similar role and a track record of success in leading a team
- Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management or a related field would be highly regarded
- Strong financial acumen to manage budgets, analyse costs
- Skilled in business strategy development and implementation of business plans
- Experience (or appreciation) in the bushland rehabilitation industry would be ideal, including knowledge of equipment, methodologies, interpreting site designs and conformance criteria
- Strong leadership and HR skills to manage staff, workplace issues, safety and risk assessment skills, and the ability to drive and motivate the team
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to guide the team and also to build and manage stakeholder relationships
- Solution-focused with strong troubleshooting skills, a high attention to detail and a quality focus
- Business IT and administrative skills
