**About the role**

A great opportunity has arisen to join the Science Division for a Citizen Science Officer. Within your role, you will build, and maintain internal and external partnerships, through citizen science.

Furthermore, you will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in delivering citizen science programs, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

**Duties**
- Maintenance of the operation of the Macleod located soil screening laboratories, including but not limited to; use and calibration of the soil screening equipment (XRF and RemScan), purchasing and administration of consumables, and ongoing review of the standard operating procedures.
- Working closely with EPA’s scientists, Public Affairs Branch, regional teams to design and deliver new citizen science initiatives aligned to the organisation’s strategic and regulatory priorities and community needs.
- Support the planning, delivery and execution of citizen science workshops, trials, and events with relevant target audiences.
- Support the translation of scientific/technical information so that it can be understood by a range of audiences, including the public; contribute to EPA guidelines, technical and scientific reports, and papers.

**Skills and experience**
- Qualifications and postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field/or relevant experience in applied/environmental science.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental science programs and/or community science activities.
- A valid current driver’s licence
- A valid WWCC
- Occasional regional travel may be required.
