Café Assistant

**Position Overview**

Applied EV offers an in-house café for employees providing barista coffee, morning tea, lunch and snacks. The Cafe Assistant will play a vital role in assisting the Café Managers and supporting daily operations within the cafe. This role will assist with various tasks, including food and beverage preparation, maintaining cleanliness and organization, and ensuring a positive experience for Applied EV staff.

The role is Monday to Friday, with expected hours between 8.00 am - 4.30 pm.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Food and Beverage Preparation**:
Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverage items, including coffee, tea, sandwiches, hot meals, and snacks, following established recipes and quality standards. Ensure food safety and sanitation guidelines are adhered to at all times.

**Cleaning and Maintenance**:
Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the cafe, including dining areas, kitchen, serving counters, and restrooms. Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, and surfaces regularly to ensure a hygienic environment for customers and staff.

**Stocking and Inventory Management**:
Assist with monitoring inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies, and replenish items as needed to ensure adequate stock levels. Rotate perishable items, check expiration dates, and discard expired or spoiled products according to established procedures.

**Assisting with Special Events**:
Assist with the planning, setup, and execution of special events, such as catering orders and promotional activities. Provide support as needed to ensure events run smoothly.

**Team Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with other cafe team members to coordinate tasks, prioritize workload, and maintain a positive working environment. Communicate effectively and proactively to contribute to team goals and objectives.

**Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations**:
Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, sanitation, and hygiene practices. Comply with local health department requirements, as well as company policies and procedures related to food safety and workplace safety.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Previous experience in food preparation and service is preferred.
- Previous experience as a barista
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as needed.
