The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts is responsible for the design and delivery of the Australian Government’s infrastructure, transport, regional development, communications and arts policies and programs.

Our work connects and enriches every Australian community, underpins our economy and society, and empowers our regions. We provide policy advice and deliver programs, projects and services in the infrastructure, transport, communications and arts sectors, supporting our regions, cities and territories.

The Communication, Ministerial and Parliamentary Branch provides high quality advice and support through a range of enabling services, including ministerial announcements, speechwriting services, strategic communication services, media liaison, social media engagement, advertising campaigns and design and video services.

**The opportunities we have available**
The Communication Branch is seeking motivated and creative EL1s for our Strategic Communication and Internal Communication teams. These positions are responsible for the management, delivery and implementation of a wide range of communication activities including development of strategies and content, issues management, liaison with senior stakeholders, Minister’s Offices and the media, as well as team management and staff development.

The successful applicants will work in small teams, delivering integrated, creative communication solutions and provide high quality communication advice with the aim of raising public awareness of the department’s programs and projects. You will also contribute to the direction and leadership of the Communication, Ministerial and Parliamentary Branch.

**What will you do?**
Assistant Director, Strategic Communication
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communication, you will work in a dynamic and innovative team to deliver integrated communication strategies and provide high quality communication advice. You will have a demonstrated ability to understand the communication environment in which you operate, proactively identify communication opportunities, and deliver creative communication solutions. You will have a proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities to achieve results.

Key duties include:

- Managing and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including liaising closely with program and policy areas to understand, anticipate and deliver on their strategic communication needs, and working across the Communication Branch to facilitate outcomes.
