Reporting to Depot Manager, the position includes the following responsibilities:

- Develop the skills, knowledge and certifications to operate locomotives hauling rolling stock units on a railway line.
- Learn how to be a driver that operates the train with due consideration of route conditions
- Conduct full train examination and drives the train to operational requirements
- Within agreed policy guidelines, perform assigned duties according to established procedures, company policies and applicable legislation

**Desired Skills and Experience**:

- The individual should have a trade or certificate of higher education, eg TAFE, apprenticeship, university
- The individual should have 5 years’ experience in the field trade of certificate or higher education. For example, fitter, electrician, mechanic etc
- Ability to work shifts and work away from home
- Pass pre-employment medical checks including Psychometric safety testing, Category 1 medical/physical and ongoing drug and alcohol screens
- Ability to complete a national police clearance
- A valid, full drivers’ licence
