**The Role**
Our client is looking for an experienced Youth Counsellor to join their Central Coast team in a full-time, 12- month fixed-term-contract capacity. Working as part of the wider Youth Services team, you'll work throughout the region counselling youth in a 1:1 and group setting. Main responsibilities include:
- Provide individual or group psychoeducational programs
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and counselling to young people experiencing substance use disorder and or problematic AOD usage
- Provide accessible information to clients, family, and other service providers about the service
- Assess clients with a range of co-existing physical health, mental health, and social conditions
- Provide an environment free of alcohol and non-prescribed pharmaceutical medications
- Facilitate regular contact and support for clients who are on a waitlist
- Ensure practice is underpinned by trauma-informed and psychologically informed care and environments
- Evidence work with clear, concise recording/documentation in 48hrs, upholding confidentiality always
- Demonstrate critical thinking and reflective practice in all work, documentation, and supervision
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, training and build positive partnerships with key stakeholders
- Provide culturally responsive support to diverse groups throughout counselling and group work
**What you need**
- Registered/Provisionally Registered psychologist with Bachelor of Psychology OR Accredited Counsellor with Bachelor/Post Graduate Level qualifications in Counselling or Social Work
- Membership in a peak body such as PACFA, ACA, AASW, or AHPRA
- Previous experience in counselling and assessment with young people experiencing AOD
- Understanding of counselling in the social services sector
- Valid NSW Working with Childrens Check
- Current NSW Driver's License
- Prof of Covid-19 vaccination or exemption
- National Police Check
