The Role
In this part-time role, based across our sites at Camberwell, Hawthorn, Richmond and Brighton, you will be responsible for the spiritual, emotional and religious well-being of inpatients of the hospitals. You will be part of the Pastoral Care and wider Clinical Services team and report to the Director of Clinical Services.

**You will make an impact by**:
Ensuring the religious, emotional and religious needs of hospitals inpatients are met

Provide extra support for vulnerable, isolated or long-stay patients of the hospitals

Provide education, support, training, de-briefing for staff as required as part of their patient care

Communicate and advocate effectively for your patients to nursing, medical and allied health teams

To be successful in this role
You will need to be able to work both independently to manage a caseload; as well as work effectively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. You will need to be able to work across several different clinical areas - each with differing Pastoral Care requirements and time demands. You will need to be a natural 'people person' and communicate effectively with patients as well as nursing, medical and allied health staff. Due to the sometimes challenging nature of our patients circumstances; compassion, empathy and personal resilience are a must in this role.

You will have

Relevant Tertiary qualification in theology, pastoral counselling, social sciences or equivalent

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Good time management skills

Flexible approach to service delivery based on the needs of the patients

High levels of compassion and empathy for patients experiencing challenging mental and physical issues

Previous experience working in a health care facility
