We currently have an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to join our hospice operations team. The role will be located at our purpose built Very Special Kids House, located in Malvern which will open to our children in early 2023. Our new state-of-the-art hospice (including hydrotherapy pool) will be a world class facility to support the complex needs of the children and young people in our care. You will enjoy one of Melbourne’s most unique purpose-built workplaces, while you work side by side with our favourite team member - Jaffa our Therapy Dog.

**About Very Special Kids**:
At Very Special Kids, we believe that all children and young people have the right to a quality of life, no matter how long or short their life may be. We are a highly respected organisation with circa 100 employees and over 600 volunteers who provide essential, free-of-charge, palliative care services for children and young people living with a life-limiting condition. Very Special Kids provides specialist services for the whole family, including counselling, peer support, bereavement support and respite and end of life care at Victoria’s only hospice for children and young people.

As Deputy Hospice Manager you will be responsible for:

- Working in our hospice, the Registered Nurse is responsible for:

- Ensuring all clinical nursing practice and delivery of care of the shift is consistent with Very Special Kids and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards, NSQHS Standards and accepts responsibility for professional activities that support service delivery and the professional development of self and others.
- Providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal care; performing self-assessment of scope of practice and competence related to assigned responsibilities.
- Provision of high-quality care to the children and families accessing Very Special Kids House is demonstrated.
- Works effectively as a hands-on part of a skilled, creative, professional, and compassionate team.
