**Selection Criteria**:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of food safety regulations including food handling, storage and preparation.

3. Demonstrated ability to manage a canteen in relation to ordering supplies, maintaining stock, minimising waste and managing costs.

**Role**:
To manage the school canteen which will involve processing of student and staff canteen orders. Our canteen operates 2 days per week, Monday and Friday.

Sourcing suppliers and coordinating orders working in line with the Department's guidelines on School Canteens.

Creating healthy menus to offer our students and staff whilst working within the guidelines of School and Departmental Policies on healthy school canteens.

Catering for school staff Professional Development days if required.

Management of volunteers or assistants and creating of rosters.

**Responsibilities**:
Planning, organising, and monitoring the day-to-day operations of the canteen, including the rostering of voluntary workers, daily record-keeping, opening and closing the canteen, preparation and cooking for service;
Providing leadership to canteen employees and volunteers to ensure the delivery of an affordable food service to the school community;
Ordering, purchasing and checking all supplies against invoices and delivery dockets;
Using food preparation and food handling skills to minimise waste;
Induction and training volunteers in the food preparation and other procedures to deliver an affordable food service to the school community;
Ensuring that food products prices are monitored and value for money considered;
Ensure that stock is kept at appropriate levels and a stock take is undertaken at the end of each school term;
Implement procedures and processes regarding food safety to ensure that correct food handling and hygiene practices are performed to prevent food spoilage, contamination and subsequent food poisoning;
Ensuring all canteen workers including volunteers are familiar with correct food handling and hygiene practices in line with relevant legislation;
Co-operate with the school leadership team, in organising the ordering, delivery and storage of items for special events being conducted by the leadership team and/or the School Council community group sub-committee if required;
Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of others in the canteen;
Ensuring that the cleaning incidental to the main function of the canteen is carried out and adhering to OH&S policies and procedures of Specimen Hill Primary School

The original Specimen Hill Primary School was established in 1874 on the current site in Inglewood Street, Golden Square in the provincial city of Bendigo. In 2004, 2005 a new school was constructed on the existing site.
