Working in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Lecturer in Spanish is required to teach students and develop high-quality teaching materials for the areas of Spanish and Latin American Studies. The Lecturer will use their previous scholarly learning and teaching of Undergraduate or Postgraduate programs to develop a learner-centric and research informed curriculum design. The Lecturer will lead teaching teams to adopt innovative teaching strategies to improve student success and engagement. This role involves contributing to discipline-based educational or pedagogy research projects to build teaching and learning capability in the area.

**Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to**:

- Lead teaching teams to develop effective unit curricula and learning resources.
- Adopt new innovation in curriculum design at the unit level.
- Initiate, designs and conducts and may lead productive, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs.
- Provide clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes.
- Engage collaboratively to develop novel and high-quality research or creative activities.
- Support seeking funding for research and creative activities.
- Build national reputation, based on growing, focused body of work recognised for quality, excellence, and impact.
- Assist the implementation of local citizenship activities and contribute to effectiveness as influencer.
- Contribute to the implementation of specific aspects of University’s strategic agenda.
- Assist the implementation of community engagement activities.
- Contribute to the implementation of University’s community engagement agenda.

**Key selection criteria for this role**:

- A PhD in Spanish as a second language and/ or Spanish and Latin American Studies and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design.
- High level of digital literacy in the field of teaching and curriculum development in languages.
- Emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
- Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching.
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
- Native or near-native competency and fluency in Spanish and English.
