**About the Role**
In partnership with the medical, theatre and midwifery team, support the Division of Women’s and Children’s Health to achieve optimum health outcomes in relation to Women’s Health.
Support leadership in the area of medical policy and strategic direction and work closely with the Clinical Director to provide comprehensive information, analysis and timely advice on all matters affecting Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services.
As a member of the Medical Services Directorate, the appointee will support leadership in achieving and upholding the Grampians Health Services Mission, Vision and Objectives.
**Key Accountabilities**
- Support the development and maintenance of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Services in line with the GH strategic direction with respect to existing and future services and facilities, as part of the overall Grampians Health Services Clinical Services Plan, responding to the external environment as appropriate.
- Support the development and review of policy, assist with the organisation and control of major management issues relating to the operation and administration of the specialist obstetrics and gynaecology service, ensuring that the policies and decisions of the Board and the directions of the Executive Staff Council are implemented, particularly with respect to quality, service delivery and budgetary matters.
- In consultation with the Clinical Director, assist in the development of obstetrics and gynaecology service objectives, policies and programs, set targets and standards and develop strategies which ensure accountability.
- Provide clinical leadership by facilitating teamwork and providing mentoring and professional support to junior clinical staff.
- Ensure the Board’s statutory and legal obligations are met as they relate to obstetrics and gynaecology services.
- Represent obstetrics and gynaecology services at relevant internal and external committees and forums.
**Skills and Experience**
- Medical registration with AHPRA
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists or equivalent.
- FSEP Level 3 Certificate obtained within 2 years, or to be completed prior to Credentialing
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of obstetrics and gynaecology service.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to quality improvement and clinical risk management approaches in obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Extensive knowledge of current issues affecting health services in the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology.
- Ability to communicate openly at all levels
- Demonstrated experience supervising and teaching junior doctors.
- Ability to operate effectively as a consultant obstetrician gynaecologist.
