**THE ROLE**
As part of our diverse team based in Melbourne you will provide support and oversee the preparation and strategic management of common law claims, impairment benefit claims and other litigated statutory matters.
The legal leader will be responsible for creating a work environment where people can realise their full potential, thus allowing the organisation to meet current and future business challenges.
This will be a permanent position based in the Melbourne office.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage the performance and development of team members to ensure they are meeting performance and customer benchmark.
- Identify, analyse and report on client specific trends, intimation triggers and preventative measures to support mitigation of common law risk across the portfolio.
- Review and provide advice about ongoing strategic management both generally and in relation to specific issues.
- Negotiate and gain agreement on the most appropriate strategy in a collaborative manner.
- Ensure the organisation complies with regulatory and governance requirements by keeping abreast of relevant governance, regulatory and legal obligations.
- Working in conjunction with legal providers and the overall management of claims to manage, monitor and provide advice to individual cases on matters that may or may not involve litigation or gain endorsement for litigation/settlement strategies.
**ABOUT YOU**
- Excellent understanding of Victorian Workers compensation legislation and the associated regulations.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Very strong experience in claims management including litigation.
- Sound experience in legal, and/or business with a successful track record in achieving business objectives
- Tertiary Qualifications in Law (preferred but not mandatory)
