**About the Firm**:
O’Brien Criminal and Civil Solicitors is a boutique fast-paced Criminal and Civil law firm based in Sydney CBD. Our office is looking for a Criminal Paralegal who has a strong interest in criminal law, and is available on a full-time basis.

You will be exposed to a wide range of legal matters and be responsible for a range of administrative tasks including:

- Drafting routine correspondence, reviewing and editing letters and documents;
- Be the first point of contact for criminal enquiries.
- File management and maintenance of e-archives and office precedents.
- Legal research and assistance with preparation of court documents / briefs (including, but not limited to - appeal books, brief creation for counsel, subpoenas and submissions).
- Assisting solicitors with general administrative tasks.

Requirements: To be considered for this position, address a minimum of five of the below criteria in your cover letter:

- Some experience in working with groups who experience disadvantage.
- The demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Be resilient (as you will be dealing with sensitive and confronting material).
- Have superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to work independently as the primary criminal paralegal to assist multiple solicitors with various workloads and deadlines as well as collectively with civil paralegals.
- Have a keen eye for details and strategic thinking.
- Willingness to learn.
- To remain objective with client enquiries regardless of their frustration / agitation.
- Occasionally calls will be received from agitated clients which you will need to remain diligent, professional and empathetic.
- Ability to professionally communicate with a wide demographic of clients.
