Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.
**Animal Shelter Officer**
**Salary**:$70,960.76 per annum pro rata

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Animal Shelter has a permanent part-time 16 hours per week position available. Working on weekends, this role suits people who are motivated, reliable, energetic and able to provide a high standard of domestic animal care.
The Animal Shelter cares for around 2,000 lost and surrendered animals per year with a strong record of finding new homes for our animals or reuniting them with their loved ones. Key tasks include:
- Cleaning, medicating, feeding and assessing animals
- Providing a high level of customer service to the community
- Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and disease control
- Educating the community about animal care and wellbeing
- Administration duties including record keeping
If you have completed or are working towards a relevant certificate in an animal field such as vet nursing, have experience in handling and caring for animals, this may be the role for you
