**Division Responsibilities**

The Information Technology Division (ITD) supports a wide range of business functions,

systems and lead a significant data capability that supports our compliance and regulation

functions, policy development and program delivery. We are also responsible for delivery of

desktop services to over 6,000 staff and oversee the department's protective and cyber

security services. ITD comprises 6 branches and is growing to support a significant reform

program focused on modernising and transforming Health services.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Data & Analytics Platform Services Branch within ITD strives for significant

improvements in Health outcomes through innovative contemporary services and

extraordinary customer solutions delivered with expertise, leading edge technologies,

excellence, and care. We work with a diverse range of business partners within the Health

portfolio and across Government (including states and territories) to deliver secure, reliable

and sustainable data and analytic platforms, tools and services and foundational insight

capabilities that help define the shape Australia's Health and Aged Care policies and

programs.?

**Key Responsibilities**
- Developing new models and/or improving the sustainability and function of existing

models required for health policy development, service delivery improvement and

budget process
- Building and refining analytical or economic frameworks to understand and advise

on the health system

statistics, machine learning, econometrics, and data visualisation to analyse and

understand the broader health policy and system
- Developing administered costings to support policy development processes ensuring

evidence-based policy design
- Contributing to health economic initiatives, policy development, and drafting advice

to the senior executive and the Minister
- Supporting program areas with economic advice to inform proposed changes to

policy settings
- Supporting program areas with financial advice and/or supply and demand

projections to inform proposed changes to policy settings, including distributional

impact analysis
- Mapping, visualising, and analysing data from various sources in the health portfolio***
- Working closely with data custodians, data stewards and other stakeholders
- Supporting departmental initiatives to improve data literacy and use of data
- Undertaking research and analysis and make judgments or assessments on complex

issues***

**Key Capabilities**
- Lead the team to liaise and collaborate with stakeholders and design and develop

conceptual, logical and physical data models to ensure high data quality and reduced

redundancy.
- Lead and provide technical guidance to the development, maintenance and publish

of data models along with corresponding metadata, in accordance with IT

Architecture and design principles and Enterprise Data Modelling Framework
- Actively participate in ongoing validation of physical data models against logical data

models and information product specifications

and develop data models
- Produce required technical artefacts and implement effective version controls to

manage changes to data models and source-to-target data mapping documentation
- Perform reverse engineering of physical data model from database and SQL scripts
- Drive innovation and promote a culture of continuous improvement, works

processes and create efficiencies
