We are seeking a casual sport editor to provide occasional cover on the sport desk and deliver outstanding sport content on the Guardian Australia website

**In this role you will**
- Commission, desk, edit, sub, SEO and occasionally write sports stories
- Ensure any potential legal issues have been resolved prior to publication
- Curate sport fronts and advise fronts editors of upcoming stories, including any that may warrant promotion off-platform, or via alerts
- Occasionally write live blogs as necessary
- Ensure a dynamic approach to digital news through a variety of content formats, including multimedia, graphics and photographs

**You'll bring**
- Good understanding of national sports agenda
- Good understanding of a wide range of men's and women's sports, including but not limited to AFL football, rugby league, rugby union, cricket, netball and football
- Experience of working in a fast-changing and high-pressure news environment, preferably on a news website
- Good understanding of media law
- Good understanding of site layout, section construction and production is an advantage
- Good understanding of Guardian values
- Good writing, commissioning and editing skills
- Good sport news judgement
- Understanding of digital media systems
- Speed and accuracy, with high attention to detail
- Good interpersonal skills; persuasive and decisive
- Experience working in a team and being flexible and adaptable
- Confidence, assertiveness and open to challenge and correction

This role is being offered on a casual basis.
