**The Role**
Within the Animal Attendants and Trainers function an APS 2 Dog Handler is accountable under routine direction to perform and achieve straightforward work relating to training and handling of canines for Defence operations within an integrated workforce.

They are accountable to have a basic understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

They may be required to undertake a range of procedural, clerical and administrative support tasks to support their work unit. They will contribute to team discussions to achieve outcomes and will seek assistance when required.

An APS 2 Dog Handler may provide some initial coaching and support to new or less experienced Defence employees on routine practices and procedures. The APS 2 Dog Handler may be required to liaise with stakeholder to provide information on straightforward and routine matters to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.

They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self improvement and professional development

**About our Team**
The APS 2 Canine Supply Team are responsible for the entire life cycle of canines bred at RAAF Security and Fire School.
The role involves participating in development activities from birth until graduation.
The team work interactively with ADF trainers and contracted cleaning staff to meet MWD course requirements.
- The applicant must be physically fit and be able to able to maintain the ability to perform manual handling tasks and be evaluated yearly to maintain currency.
- They will also be required to perform out of hours and weekend duties on a regular basis.
