The Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world. A global centre-of-excellence, it integrates Cardiac Physiology and Transplantation, Developmental and Stem Cell Biology, Molecular Cardiology and Biophysics, Structural and Computational Biology, as well as Vascular Biology. At the Institute, we translate our discoveries into new diagnostics, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular disease - reducing the incidence, severity, and impact of heart disease.

**The role**

The Facilities Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day facilities activities in the Lowy Packer Building (the Facility), which houses the VCCRI and the St Vincent's Centre For Applied Medical Research (AMR). This role will incorporate supporting the day-to-day operations of the Facility.

Reporting to the Facilities Engineering Manager, the position will also work closely with Stores and Work Health and Safety Teams.

This is a part time role up to 25 hours per week, 7am-11am, 5 days per week (Monday to Friday).

**What we will trust you with**
- Distribution of common consumables to offices and labs.
- Distribution and end to end postal services.
- Transit of clinical bins full cycle through the building.
- Transit of linen to laboratories full cycle through the building.
- Setting up and managing function rooms (moving furniture).
- Delivery of goods to respective areas within the Institute.
- Assists with purchasing and continued supply of essential services to the building such as milk, office items, amenities supplies, laboratory linen and common consumables
- Maintain the areas in the building to ensure it is organised with the efficient storage of goods and provides a safe working environment for staff.
- Assist Stores team and Scientific Services when required.
- Schedule and assist researchers with regularly defrosting freezers.

**Does this sound like you?**

You'll have previous experience in a facilities /property management role (ideally a minimum of 2 years). Demonstrated experience managing contractors and knowledge of mechanical services within a large building (e.g. HVAC) is essential.

A customer-focused attitude with excellent communication and organisational skills is also essential for this role. If you can demonstrate you have a professional presentation, good computer skills and patience dealing with people, we'd like to hear from you.

This role is 5 days a week, so availability Monday through Friday (mainly 7am - 11am) is essential.
