**The Opportunity**:

- The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) supports the functions of the Australian Parliament and the work of parliamentarians through the provision of professional services, advice and facilities, the ongoing maintenance of Australian Parliament House (APH); and makes the building, and the important activity that takes place within it, accessible.
DPS is seeking to recruit a highly motivated team member for the role of Logistics Supervisor, within the Maintenance Services Section of the Property Services Branch located at APH in Canberra. The logistics section of the Maintenance Services Section plays a pivotal role in support of APH on a daily basis by delivering efficient and effective logistics services and loading dock operations to parliamentarians, building occupants and visitors.

**Who we are looking for**:
As part of the Logistics team, the successful applicants will be required to supervise the daily operations of the APH loading dock by undertaking tasks, but not limited to:

- Schedule deliveries, direct workflow and supervise team members
- Oversee the timely and efficient dispatch of received goods,
- Provide a high level of customer service, and
- Ensure work is carried out in accordance with policies and procedures.
- The successful applicant will be well presented, professionally courteous and possess a high level of customer service experience, particularly with a wide range of internal and external clients.

They will work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment, requiring flexibility in order to meet the daily challenges presented in delivering this very important service.

**Job Specific Requirements**:

The successful applicant must:

- Hold a current drivers licence and a licence to perform high risk work (forklift). Manual handling duties may be required during peak times or staff shortages.
- Demonstrate the physical capacity to perform the full range of duties including (but not limited to) pulling, pushing, bending, and lifting and will be required to undertake a medical assessment to determine fitness for duty prior to appointment, and
- Obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (Confidential/Highly Protected/Secret) security clearance.
- Be able to participate in an on call rostered arrangement outside of the designated work hours between 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

**Immediate supervisor**: Loading Dock Manager
- Under limited/general direction undertake duties in accordance with the agreed standards for the PSL 3 classification. The duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- 1. Direct workflow and supervise the DPS Logistics team in the delivery of a variety of logistics related tasks in support of the daily operations of the Australian Parliament House (APH) Loading Dock, in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
- 3. Update delivery and tracking information in the computerised Loading Docking System (LDS).
- 4. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and clients.
- 5. Operate vehicles and material handling equipment in accordance with approved policies and procedures, and
- 6. Carry out a variety of logistic-related manual handling tasks in accordance with relevant approved legislation, policies, procedures and manual handling techniques.
