**Anglo American Steelmaking Coal**
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

**Job Description**:

- As the Safety Specialist - Risk Management you will provide technical support during the implementation and execution of the risk management standards and processes in Steelmaking Coal.

Key responsibilities include:

- Facilitate SMC Bowtie Analysis (BTA), including identification of Critical Controls (CC)
- Ensure alignment to Group Minimum Mandated Critical Controls (MMCC)
- Oversee quality of site Baseline Risk Assessments and Brisbane Corporate Office Project Issue-Based Risk Assessments
- Monitor CC monitoring activity completion, repeat deficiencies and trends in CC performance

**Qualifications**:

- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as science, engineering, or other related careers
- A formal qualification in Safety is highly desirable
- Practical safety or operational experience of at least 3 to 5 years
- Detailed knowledge of Safety & Health and risks, as well as a thorough understanding of operations
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation of risk management procedures
- Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues at all levels and coordinating disciplines relevant to risk management
- Effectively influence and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes
- Ability to facilitate agreement and co-operation using a diplomatic and open approach
- Effective in working with diverse teams and sensitive to local social, political and cultural realities
