The Wine Buyer is responsible for the management of a portfolio of Wine, Spirits and Beer suppliers and products, building relationships that deliver revenue growth, meet customer, strategic, commercial and broader business objectives.

The role will manage a portfolio of products, making product buying decisions that: deliver revenue, margin and inventory targets, with accurate forecasting, strong margins and compelling campaigns to ensure the portfolio is operating at its optimal level; deliver customers a superior and structured product portfolio based on strategic insights and data and deliver timely and functional reporting on the wine portfolio and performance.

The Wine Buyer will work closely with Marketing to specify products for inclusion in promotions and ensure adequate stock is on hand to fulfil orders. The Wine Buyer will have solid contacts in and a strong knowledge of the Australian wine industry, consumer preferences and retail wine trends.

What you’ll bring to the role:

- Minimum 5 years Wine Buying experience
- Significant practical experience in the Australian wine retail market including commercial experience dealing with Senior Management
- Experience managing significant supply relationships/account management
- An understanding of wine brands, the wine industry, trends, customer buying insights.
- Wine portfolio/category management experience essential.
- Experience with online wine business desired but not essential
- Buying / Commercial management: Track record of effective forecasting, negotiation, pricing and procurement and inventory management.
- Spreadsheets and Reporting: High level of experience and confidence in using spreadsheets and designing and delivering reports
- Results Orientation: redesigns business practices to deliver breakthrough results

- Exceptional communication and influencing skills
- Wine retail expertise: understands the market interrelationships and implications; has strong commercial connections in the wine industry, identifies emerging market opportunities
