**Electorate Officer - Media & Communications (EOB)**

Applications are invited for the part-time (4 days per week) ongoing position of Electorate Officer in the Office of the Hon Kristy McBain MP, Federal Member for Eden-Monaro. The role will be based in the Member’s Electorate Office in Queanbeyan or Bega, NSW.

This diverse role would suit a highly motivated individual with previous experience in a parliamentary and/or media and communications role. The ideal applicant will have a passion for the electorate of Eden-Monaro, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced working environment.

**Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to**:

- Drafting of electorate communications material
- Assisting with management of complex constituent cases
- Media monitoring and assisting with social media, print and digital media functions
- Preparation of speech notes for local events and parliamentary debates
- Photography/videography at local events
- Contributions to political and campaign advice
- Travel within the electorate as required
- Other duties as directed

**The ideal applicant should possess the following skills and experiences**:

- Experience in a journalism, communications or marketing-related role is highly regarded, as would experience in government or political settings
- A sound knowledge of government, parliamentary processes, and the regional media landscape
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in fields such as politics, communications and journalism are desirable
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Multimedia and graphic design skills
- Well-developed understanding of relevant IT systems and social media platforms
- Photography and videography skills are highly regarded
- A current Driver’s Licence is desirable

**Employment conditions**:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23which include:

- A commencing salary within the range of $69,170 and $80,757 (FTE) will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills
- An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable

All ministerial staff will be bound by a code of conduct and be required to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance (NV2).
