**About the role**
In this Senior Leadership role, you will be accountable for leadership, management and delivery of high quality Early Childhood and Family Services to the Geelong community. You will provide strategic advise and support to the Executive Leadership Team and Council and drive organisational improvement in relation to early childhood and family services.

The Family Services department incorporates a diverse range of services, including Maternal & Child Health, Early Childhood Education & Care, Family Day Care, Family Services Development, Family Services Planning, and Administration.

Key responsibilities include:

- Lead the Family Services Department with an objective of providing high quality services across the municipality
- Contribute to integrated planning and reporting in relation to meeting our diverse community needs and aspirations for services and social as it relates to families and children.
- Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of all service provision ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations and completing reporting requirements to funding and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and monitor the Department Strategic Plan which establishes high levels of accountability through setting targets, measuring performance and reporting results to achieve Council corporate and annual plan objectives.
- Effectively lead and drive positive culture, development of staff and ensuring high levels of accountability across the department.
- Develop and maintain a continuous improvement culture in which staff anticipate and deliver services in a responsive manner and implement best practice.
- Develop and monitor the Department budget ensuring specific budget programs are implemented on time and within budget allocation

**About you**

Essential Experience:

- Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to guide and empower employees, fostering a culture that supports productive and engaged teams in accordance with the organisations values.
- Strong financial skills and ability to establish and achieve budget targets.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of current service systems in the Family and Community Sector and of expected changes to these systems.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and strategic thinking skills with experience in anticipating and responding to changes in the environment and providing authoritative, timely and concise advice of the highest level.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills with maturity, discretion and judgement in a complex environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and experience relevant to the role of Manager Family Services.
