Job Title: Assistant Minister (Youth & Young Adults)
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Direct Reports: Youth leaders, 4.30 Area Leaders
Location: Surry Hills
Remuneration: Stipend, housing and other allowances

Vine Church exists to connect 1,000 people to the life, love and freedom Jesus offers. We dream of seeing more people in church worshiping Jesus on Sunday than at the pub next door on a Saturday night.

**Position Purpose**

Vine Church is seeking to employ a godly and gifted Youth and Young Adults Minister who is passionate about reaching and discipling the next generation of young people in our city.

**Main Responsibilities**

**Vine Youth**
- Vine Youth: Lead, develop and set direction for the Friday Vine Youth team so that we see a number of teenagers come to faith and grow in their faith in Jesus.
- Junior Bible Study: Lead, develop and set direction for the Junior Bible Study meeting on Sunday mornings to seeing teenagers grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus.
- Senior Bible Study: Lead, develop and set direction for the Junior Bible Study meeting midweek or on Sunday afternoons to seeing teenagers grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus.
- Systems: Oversee the processes and systems that facilitate the effective operation of the Youth Team.
- Camps: Lead, develop and set direction for Youth Camp, Church Weekend Away, and KYCK youth conference.
- SRE and Lunchtime Groups: Pursue opportunities to teach Special Religious Education in local high schools and start lunchtime groups that build connections back to Vine Youth.

**Youth Adults**
- Focus Leader: Lead, develop and set direction the 4.30pm congregation team to see young adults converted and growing as disciples of Jesus.
- Ministry Development: Oversee the ministry recruitment and leadership development pipeline within the 4.30pm congregation to resource the ministry with servant-hearted volunteers.
- Community Building: Oversee events that facilitate the growth of the 4.30 congregation, including 4.30pm weekend way, community socials and hangs, etc.
- Preaching: Preaching and teaching the BibleOther responsibilities as required in working in a team environment

**Essential**

- Evidences a committed, authentic and tested faith in the risen Lord Jesus as our only saviour and hope.
- Loves the church as the gathered people of God and leads their family to do the same.
- Deep love for Jesus, and a strong commitment to seeing people live for the glory of God in all their lives.
- Strong commitment to seeing lives changed by the gospel via prayer and the word of God.

**Youth and Young Adults competencies**
- Deep understanding of the culture of youth and young adults.
- Clear and engaging youth preacher.
- Energetic and inspirational leader.

**Ministry competencies**
- Theologically-minded and able to show evidence of teaching the Bible faithfully and transformatively.
- Ability to think biblically and explain the gospel in a clear and Christ-centred way.
- Able to explain the gospel to unbelievers in a clear and compelling way.
- Passionate about evangelism and is experienced in seeing people converted and established in the faith.
- Approachable and warm personality.
- Determined to see people connected, growing and equipped for a life in the family of God.

**Leadership competencies**
- Proven ability in establishing, training and leading teams and their leaders.
- Ability to lead productive team meetings and training nights.
- Clear, humble and an engaging leadership style, calling people to make sacrifices for the cause of Christ.
- Excellence in professional skills such as clear written and verbal communication, time-management, organisation, and systems thinking.
- Ability to negotiate conflict between parties.
- Experience in running ministry systems and event with a team of staff or volunteers.
- Willing to work alongside others in a team and under the Lead Pastor.
- Willing to commit to the vision and mission and join Vine Church.

**Desirable**
- Experience in in a professional vocation and is a good cultural fit with the inner city and the people of Vine Church.
- Completed or currently undertaking higher education in theology and ministry.
- More than five years experience in a similar role.
- Experience in an outcome driven ministry team.

Remuneration is provided in accordance with the Anglican Church of Sydney’s guidelines for stipend and allowances (including housing, travel, hospitality, books, computer, and conferences).
