Our Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney team is currently seeking to appoint a **Horticulturist (Nursery)** to develop and maintain horticultural collections and displays in the nursery, including propagation of a broad range of plants, turf horticultural development, management and maintenance, landscape construction and supervision of junior staff. This horticulturalist role requires a love of the nursery environment, where care is methodical, organised and to international standards of tending to a plant and keeping it at its best health.

**About You**

In this role a key challenge would be the careful curation of a diverse range of plants (primarily tropical and subtropical, but as diverse as aquatics) in a nursery setting, including the control of pests and diseases, weed control, plant nutrition and irrigation control. You will facilitate community awareness, positive aesthetics, education and conservation.

Maintaining knowledge of an increasingly diverse range of plant collections and establishing appropriate conditions for the maintenance of horticultural collections and displays, is also vital to the success of not only the plants, but this role.

To truly succeed in the role, you will be well equipped in and enjoy a nursery setting, perhaps having worked in a botanic gardens in the past. You will also be familiar with acute data and records management.

**Essential Requirements**
- Certificate III in either Horticulture or Parks & Gardens or equivalent qualifications with experience in the maintenance of horticultural displays, pest and disease control, weed management, plant nutrition and irrigation control and in the maintenance and use of all associated plant and equipment.
- Current driver’s licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles and willingness to undertake fieldwork for extended periods of time and have the ability to lift and carry a minimum 15 kilos.
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours and on weekends if required.
