About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community
About the role
- Appraise documents held in onsite and offsite storage and make recommendations on their suitability for retention or disposal in accordance with the Records Disposal Authority (RDA) PROS 04/08.
- Prepare court files for retention, transfer or disposal as directed by the relevant Registry Manager, Senior Tribunal Officer, VOCAT Transition Lead or the VOCAT Principal Registrar.
- Document and consolidate retention and disposal records in accordance with the relevant protocols and using the correct systems.
- Undertake extensive data and information collection and analysis, to identify requirements and gaps relating to the scope of work, providing advice and recommendations for progressing the necessary implementation activities.
- Undertake research as required on issues relating to the retention of legal documents and files, including seeking advice from judicial officers, from the Public Records Office of Victoria (PROV) and other jurisdictions and stakeholders, including the Magistrate Court of Victoria.
- Contribute to planning and prioritising of archiving activities for business as usual, as well as for the preparation for any amendments to the current RDA.
- Work closely with the VOCAT Transition Lead and Manager of Information of Records (MCV), to monitor risks and issues in relation to the transition to FAS, VOCAT Archiving File Management (VAFM) Project and VOCAT Backlog Strategy (VBS) Project.
- Proactively build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as directed, commensurate to the skills and classification level of the role.
About you
Knowledge and/or experience in the archiving of court documents is desirable.
