**About the Role**
The Australian Museum has committed to being a cultural leader and advocate for First Nations history and People. As part of this commitment, we are recruiting the Repatriation Researcher, which is a crucial role that sits within the First Nations Repatriation team. This role is offered on an ongoing full time basis.
The Repatriation Researcher will support the Repatriation Program Manager in facilitating the repatriation of restricted collections to their community of origin. This role will undertake research to help ascertain relevant information and provenance for objects and Ancestral Remains in the Museum’s restricted collections. This role will also provide administration support for the Repatriation Program through quality assurance, compliance and audit of records in the collection management system, repatriation database and related files. This role works across several Museum sites to support the work of the Repatriation Program and may require interstate travel to further advance the First Nations operations.
- Role Description
You will be paid a competitive annual salary $93,295 - $102,942, plus employer's contribution to superannuation (currently 11%) and annual leave loading.
**About You**
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience in, or knowledge of, Indigenous Cultural & Intellectual Property frameworks, policy, and licensing.
- Professional experience working in Museums including knowledge of best practice models for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business in Museums and/or archives and use of collection management databases such as KE EMu (preferred).
- Ability to use spreadsheets, graphing, tables, calculations, and automation efficiently to process large quantities of data relevant to business tasks.
- Experience working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Pasifika peoples and communities.
- Willingness, and ability, to work at different Museum locations based across the Sydney region. Some interstate travel may be required to further advance the First Nations operations.
