**About Us**

The Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) was formed in 2020 as a central agency for regional issues. The Department has responsible for building resilient regional economies and communities, strengthening primary industries, managing the use of regional land, overseeing the state’s mineral and mining resources and ensuring government investment in regional NSW is fair and delivers positive outcomes for local communities and businesses.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI) supports the development of profitable primary industries that create a more prosperous NSW and contributes to a better environment through the sustainable use of natural resources.

Within NSW DPI, Forestry Land Reform (DPI Forestry) provides nationally and internationally recognised expertise in forest science; is responsible for forestry policy development; and provides regulatory services under the _Plantations and Reafforestation Act 1999._

**About the role**

The role investigates and collates existing organic residues and other waste streams as part of an assessment into waste for primary industries in NSW and incorporates the information into GIS to be used within the project and on spatial platforms. This information will be used by NSW DPI to inform the development of zero waste initiatives for primary industries.

In this role your key accountabilities will be:

- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and milestones met
- Collate information on types, location and volume of existing organic residues and other waste streams
- Use of GIS systems to create spatial data for organic residues and other waste streams
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and partners

**Essential Requirements**
- Degree qualification in Science, Agricultural Science, or a related discipline or similar
- Extensive experience in using GIS systems and analysis of associated data as applied to primary industries
- Current valid driver licence
