Prehistoric Puppeteer

**About the Role**:
As our puppeteer, you’ll be operating Rusty, our largest dinosaur puppet and the star of our show, i.e: you will be bringing her to life

You will also be driving the company truck (no truck licence required) that contains all our assets and helping to set up before and pack down after performances. You will also occasionally be involved in the performances as a dinosaur wrangler, presenting our fossil replicas and baby dinosaurs alongside our presenters.

**To be successful in this role, you will need**:

- a current full, manual licence with clear Traffic History Report
- a _BLUE CARD since_ we work with children
- your own reliable transport to get to the dinosaur truck
- your own ABN (optional)

The skills for the job itself include performance experience, palaeontological knowledge, and the ability to work with children. We put on high-energy educational shows and almost always take questions from the audience, and while the presenters will be taking the brunt of the children’s attention, it always helps to have some theatre skills and dinosaur know-how of your own. The Dino Encounters team understands that this is a very specific skillset though, and are more than happy for you to learn on the job, we just need you to put the effort in.

**Hours and availability**

We work on a bookings basis with no permanent location, so we don’t have a fix weekly roster. Instead, our team are assigned to performances on a case-by-case basis. The majority of our work comes from birthday parties, schools, and childcare centres. You can expect to have a job on most weekends, and occasionally during the morning on weekdays. During the school holidays, we are very busy with at least one vacation care performance on almost every day of these weeks. (We require you to have full availability during mid-year school holidays)

This flexibility offers a great side gig for university students, casual workers, and performers.

**Job Types**: Subcontract, Casual

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
