**About the role**:
A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated **Lung Transplant **Research Fellow** with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team.

The aim of the position is to develop research objectives, projects and proposals, undertake research and evaluate outcomes in the field of adult lung transplantation. This role also includes planning, coordination and implementation of research programs in accordance with St Vincent’s Hospital Lung Transplant unit priorities and the University of New South Wales strategy, policy and procedures, and The Curran Foundation funder requirements.

The successful applicant will:

- Develop research objectives, projects and proposals relating to understanding clinical **or** basic science mechanisms of lung allograft injury (including cellular/humoral rejection, transplant infection, aspiration) and tolerance after lung transplantation.
- Conduct individual or collaborative research projects pertaining to key lung transplant outcomes including primary graft dysfunction, baseline, acute and chronic lung allograft dysfunction including CLAD phenotypes.
- Writing or contributing to publications or disseminating research findings using media appropriate to the discipline through the assessment, interpretation and evaluation of outcomes of research.
- Represent the Lung Transplant Unit in presentations at local and international conferences or exhibit work at other appropriate events
- Develop new concepts and ideas to extend intellectual understanding in lung transplantation
- It would be desirable (but not essential) to be familiar with skills such as bronchoalveolar lavage specimen collection/processing, histology/histopathology, and analysis of high throughput screening techniques such as mass spectrometry/proteomics data and/or mass cytometry/CyTOF.
- Managing research personnel and research resources including the research budget

2. Demonstrated experience in the field of biomedical research with first-author high-quality publications.
4. Previous specialist knowledge and experience working in the discipline of biomedical research to develop research protocols and methodologies
5. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and manage internal and external stakeholders
6. Demonstrated clerical or administration experience in a health, hospital, research or medical environment
7. Demonstrated experience in working in a fast-paced research environment with strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines
8. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and under broad supervision while undertaking a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team.
