About the Team
Our Global Legal team provides key support for all ByteDance’s innovative initiatives, state-of-the-art products, and integrated platforms servicing our global video market. We help our technological and business teams enable their vision by providing integrated legal guidance and support. The ByteDance Legal team is growing fast and is seeking highly experienced, bright and capable legal professionals to join the team. The Global Employment Law team provides strategic and practical legal advice to Human Resources and business stakeholders globally, and handles litigation matters involving TikTok in all the regions in which TikTok operates. This role is for a senior level employment lawyer with a passion for people management to lead our team of employment lawyers in our Asia Pacific region (excluding China). The following describes the responsibilities and requirements for the role, and this position can either be based in Singapore or Australia.

**Responsibilities**:

- Serve as a trusted advisor to HR and business stakeholders in the APAC region providing both strategic and pragmatic day-to-day advice on a broad range of employment law issues in various countries in the APAC region.
- Lead a team of employment lawyers and legal professionals across the region.
- Serve as a strong contributor on legal compliance matters relating to employment issues.
- Support and provide advice on strategic cross-border employment law initiatives, including collaboration with other employment lawyers and SMEs.
- Draft and revise employment related agreements and policies, including employment contracts, severance agreements, company policies, and other employment related documents.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance relating to employment law issues for new business lines and markets in APAC.
- Manage all aspects of employment disputes in the region, as needed, including e-discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, depositions, case management conferences, motion practice, and arbitration or trial preparation and presentation.
- Create and lead training on APAC employment law issues.
- Qualified lawyer in one or more APAC regions (preferably Australia and/or Singapore).
- 15+ years of employment law experience in private practice with a highly regarded firm and a corporate legal department. Experience with multiple countries in the APAC region is required.
- Proven track record of building and leading high performing teams of legal professionals.
- Experience handling employment litigation matters in multiple jurisdictions, including retaining and managing outside counsel to ensure that all aspects of the company's legal representation are of the highest quality, and representing multi-national companies involved in complex disputes with outstanding outcomes.
- Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, and interpersonal skills. Strong ability to work as a team player who can effectively collaborate with colleagues from the Global Legal team and business stakeholders to support the growth of the business.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
