Position summary

Downer’s Rail & Transit Systems (RTS) business unit offers over 100 years' experience in rail, proven delivery of the largest new fleets in Australia and are the largest national rollingstock maintainer.

We have a great opportunity for a Zero Harm Advisor/HSE Advisor) to support the Rail and Transit Systems business and key stakeholders in providing guidance, coaching and leadership of Downer's Work, health and safety management systems including OHS law, Rail Safety National Law, Environmental and Injury Management systems.

Directly reporting to the GM Zero Harm Operations you will be based in our Cardiff Facility while also providing support to Newcastle Light Rail operations. You will provide safety support to the facility team including, consultation, risk and incident management, rail safety requirements and assist the business in providing assurance around compliance with customer, regulatory and Downer requirements and expectations.

ABOUT YOU

You will be a hands-on operator who has the ability to quickly build strong working relationships with a minimum 5 years’ experience in a Safety practitioner role

Mandatory - Meet the requirements of a Rail Safety Worker

Mandatory - Cert IV in WHS / OHS

Diploma in WHS/OHS or similar highly regarded

Cert IV Training and Assessment (desirable)

Experience in a similar role or Rail Industry experience (desirable)

Experience with working in accordance with an ISO Certified Safety, Environmental and Quality Management System

Previous rail experience and understanding of Rail Safety National Law will be highly regarded

ICAM lead investigator or similar will be highly regarded

Internal auditing experience a must with audit qualifications highly regarded

Ability to drive change to achieve safety targets

Excellent leadership skills, and experience with effectively facilitating multiple stakeholders

Knowledge of Return to Work legislation with RTW qualifications would be highly regarded.

Knowledge of Safety Management software such as INX, Lucidity and Active Risk Manager and proficient with using Microsoft programs highly regarded
