- About The Position:
The Technical Officer will report to the Technical Coordinator and will be responsible for providing expert technical service and advice to support the functions and users of Physiotherapy/ Exercise Science/ Osteopathy/ Chiropractic and Chinese Medicine laboratories and workspaces. The role will also be responsible for maintaining and demonstrating the operation of laboratory equipment and instruments, while also providing technical support to staff and students. Under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator, the incumbent will be expected to ensure the maintenance of the laboratories and support the adoption and implementation of OHS standards, ensuring delivery of client centric, professional service.- The position will be responsible for the procurement of equipment and consumables, preparation and set-up of material and equipment for Physiotherapy, Exercise Science, Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Chinese Medicine classes and will contribute to the maintenance and operation of instrumentation, laboratories and supporting facilities for health disciplines with a focus on Physiotherapy. The appointee will be expected to develop and maintain documentation including, but not limited to safe operating procedures (SOPs) and Risk Assessments (RAs).To be successful in this position, you’ll have:Demonstrated knowledge/experience in a Physiotherapy and/or Exercise Science laboratories or work settings.
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including understanding and embracing a client focused framework.
- Demonstrated understanding of current OH&S legislation with knowledge of other fields or industry regulations or standards related to the field within the scope of the service area.-
- Effective oral, written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with a diverse range of people from various backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of working in accordance with the RMIT value statements or similar frameworks in other organisations.
- A commitment to RMIT’s policies of supporting a diverse workplace along with zero tolerance towards harassment, bullying or discrimination in any form.Desirable:- Demonstrated knowledge/experience in a Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Chinese Medicine, or any other allied Health laboratory.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical support in the implementation of digital technologies in Health Sciences.
- Experience working in a university environment or a teaching or research laboratory.Qualifications:
- Degree or higher qualifications in Health Science, Physiotherapy, Exercise Science or a related discipline and relevant experience. A valid Working with Children Check is mandatory.-
