**Position Information**:
Walters Road Public School is located in Blacktown and is part of The Bungarribee network. The school is located on Darug land and has a rich 60 year history. Our school has a student enrolment of 550. This includes 20 mainstream classes and 3 inclusive classes. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 25 of students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples and 58% from an English as an Additional Language or Dialect background. The main languages spoken at home include Arabic, Hindi, Tagalog and Gujarati. At Walters Road Public School we offer a wide range of learning experiences and focus on success for all students. In addition to emphasising explicit teaching in literacy and numeracy, the school provides a range of extra-curricular activities to extend and enrich student learning and experiences. We value continuous improvement and excellence in academics, sports and arts. Walters Road Public School has begun teaching and learning Dharug language with the support of key Aboriginal leaders from the Darug community. This program enables and strengthens our commitment to ensure that every student achieves their potential through education. Our Parent and Community group is actively involved within the school, and their contributions are highly valued for fostering a supportive and enriching educational environment. Our school culture is one of inclusion for all. We provide transition programs across the school including our support unit, integrating within our mainstream classes where appropriate. Our connection with our local and wider community supports the importance of a working relationship to achieve success in student learning.
**Selection Criteria**:
- In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with demonstrated capacity and experience in balancing exemplary classroom practice and coordination of the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal.-
- Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of collective efficacy by leading teams to develop and implement evidence-based practices with a focus on shared professional growth.-
- Proven capacity to collaboratively work with executive teams to develop and lead targeted, differentiated pedagogical practices, with a focus on explicit teaching, whole-school data systems, and improving student outcomes.-
- A visible leader with the ability to demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills to initiate, build and strengthen positive partnerships with students, parents, staff and the wider community.**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
