The Teaching Scholar will be required to teach, coordinate and support students undertaking practicum within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Science’s teaching programmes, and to establish and maintain links and partnerships with industry and professional communities. The appointee will also be required to teach and undertake scholarly activities in practicum units. They will promote the School and develop and nurture links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities. The appointee will make an independent contribution to the School’s teaching, research, and program development.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Maintaining appropriate discipline knowledge
- Developing effective learning materials and activities as part of the teaching team
- Leading units and working collaboratively with the unit teaching teams as well as other unit teaching teams in exercise and nutrition
- Demonstrating awareness of ongoing innovation in curriculum design
- Delivering effective teaching practices within unit
- Integrating industry, clinical and/or research practice to teaching
- Working collaboratively as part of a teaching team
- Constructively reviewing and refining own teaching practice to help maintain teaching quality standards
- Suggesting approaches to innovate teaching practices to improve student success and engagement
- Providing clear assessment criteria and timely feedback to learners to demonstrate learning outcomes
- Assisting in developing effective assessment tasks and rubrics at unit level
- Constructively contributing to moderation processes
- Adapting learning material and practices to support diverse learners
- Facilitating collaborative learning opportunities at the unit level
- Demonstrating awareness of student support and services and guides students to them where appropriate
- Conducting self-evaluation practices and maintaining effective mentor relationships
- Demonstrating understanding of and commitment to educational excellence
- Completing professional development programs in Higher Education Learning and Teaching

***Key selection criteria for this role**:

- PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
- Ability to contribute effectively to the School’s undergraduate teaching programs in food and nutrition practicum and exercise and sport science practicum, in a manner that influences, motivates, and inspires students to learn.
- Minimum one year’s academic employment experience in an Australian university (excluding a continuing academic appointment).
- Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design.
- Ability to develop and administer assessment regimens and provide feedback that fosters independent learning.
- Some experience developing curricula and teaching resources in the areas of practicum and/or career skills.
- Knowledge and experience in teaching effectively in a technology-enhanced contemporary higher education environment.
- Capacity to contribute to teaching and administration.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and the public, orally and in writing.
- Ability to lead units, staff and students in the delivery of academic teaching and related administration.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues
- Ability to contribute to the development and maintenance of partnerships with professional associations, industry and community groups.
