**Position Descriptor**:
Modbury Special School is one of the largest Special School sites in South Australia. We recognise that each child has their own individual needs, abilities and strengths. In every classroom the learning environment and curriculum are personalised to suit each child. Individualised planning incorporates sensory regulation, Readiness for Leaning, communication strategies and efficient differentiation of curriculum. The school values the development of safety, respect, responsibility and a learning attitude through the practice of readiness for learning, Play based pedagogy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication and Sensory Integration.

Personal skills and abilities:

- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, external service providers, families and additional community agencies.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a key stakeholder utilising a 'Team Around the Child' approach.

Knowledge:

- Knowledge of contemporary play-based pedagogies to support learner development.
- Knowledge of the Berry Street Education Model and Trauma Informed Practice to support Readiness for Learning.
- Knowledge of the eight senses and how to cater for diverse sensory profiles within the classrooms setting.

**Experience**:

- Plan for improved student engagement and effective learning by using data sources to inform extensive differentiated teaching and learning for each student.
- Implement the key focus areas of the School Learning Plan, Readiness for Learning, Numeracy and Literacy with coaching from the relevant coordinators.
- Use a range of AAC to support students with complex communication needs.
- Use the One Plan platforms to effectively set goals for students with a disability using the SMARTAR framework.

Desirable:

- Knowledge of modified SACE
