**About the Role**
As a Principal Solicitor (Legal Officer Grade VI), you will be responsible for assisting the Directors in managing the practice group, including with client and stakeholder engagement and in the identification and implementation of team-wide initiatives which contribute to the achievement of the CSO’s business and people goals. The Torts (Service/Regulatory Agencies) practice group specialises in the defence and settlement of civil claims, with a focus on personal injury and negligence actions against NSW Health and other service agencies. The practice group also represents agencies in coronial inquests.
- all aspects of the conduct of complex medical negligence litigation;
- Regular provision of liability and quantum advice to clients including familiarity with assessment of quantum for insurance reserving purposes;
- Representation of Parties of Sufficient Interest at inquests;
- Supervision of legal practitioners including in the settling of advice and pleadings and the provision of guidance on legal strategy;
- Operating in a commercial environment.
