The Manly Hydraulics Laboratory within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is seeking a Hydrographer focused on coastal, boating and dive work.

**About the Role**

The Field Hydrographer assists in the coordination of a range of oceanic/marine, coastal, estuarine/riverine (including flood waters), water system, sewer system and/or stormwater system monitoring services under the guidance of senior staff to deliver high quality and innovative client outcomes.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will be a motivated, multi-skilled, and organised individual with a desire to work in the field to collect water and environmental data. You will have demonstrated work experience working in natural systems, including in and around water, boating, diving and attention to detail. You will thrive in a team environment and have strong communication and collaboration skills to work across the business. You will enjoy problem solving, technology, and regular travel.

This role will support the Hydrometrics Delivery Team which has responsibilities to collect and provide real time environmental data for MHL’s commercial clients throughout NSW, in a high quality, timely, and cost
- effective manner.

**Essential requirements**
- Appropriate qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
- Boat licence/Coxswain Grade 3.
- Ability to demonstrate swimming/rescue (up to 200m) assessment.
- Current First aid certificate or commitment to obtain with six months.
- Ability and willingness to safely carry out all duties working on or near water, in the natural environment and urban environment including wastewater and stormwater systems.
- A valid NSW driver’s licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stay and field work.
- Commercial diving certificate, confined spaces certificate, coxswain 1 or 2 and four-wheel driving accreditation is preferable.
- Must pass a Royal Life Saving swim and rescue assessment within the probationary period and biennial thereafter._

MHL manages Australia’s largest coastal monitoring network and has been solving coastal, port, and hydraulic engineering problems since 1944.
