**The role**

The Construction Manager (Upper Reservoir) is responsible for providing senior leadership on site for the Borumba Pumped-Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) project from inception through to completion. The project involves the construction of a 2GW hydro power station underpinned by construction of a new upper reservoir, increasing the capacity of the lower reservoir, and the establishment of critical infrastructure to service both the project and future operation.

The Construction manager is instrumental in planning and delivering site-based activities and construction works from the initial site wide geotechnical investigation campaign through to the successful completion of the upper reservoir. This role will help establish critical business processes for field and construction activities and be responsible for growing and leading the team needed to achieve the project’s overall KPIs.

Duties within this role will include:

- Overseeing the site geotechnical investigation scope, ensuring the attainment of key milestones and design inputs.
- Facilitating contract delivery workshops, evaluating tenders, and providing assistance during contract negotiations.
- Supervising construction performance to meet safety, environmental, scope, cost, and quality requirements.
- Thoroughly analysing project objectives and adeptly communicating them to direct workers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Meeting or establishing deadlines and targets, implementing recovery plans as necessary.
- Contributing to the definition and development of the safety and delivery function for the project, including the establishment of a cohesive team and culture to meet delivery requirements.
- Support contract(or) delivery workshops, evaluation of tenders and assistance during contract negotiations.
- Developing and administering the on-boarding and mobilisation process for workers and contractors to site
- Managing construction performance to all safety, environmental, scope, cost and quality requirements
- Examine project objectives in-depth and effectively communicate in order to drive direction to workers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Meeting and/or establishing deadlines and targets, including recovery plans where required.
- Assisting in defining and developing the safety and delivery function for the project, including building the necessary team and culture to meet delivery requirements.

**About you**

To be considered for this position you will ideally possess:

- Imperative to have proven large scale civil experience, ideally within a Dam Construction environment.
- Driver’s license
- Minimum 10 years' experience.
- Competent in planning and organising work schedules and a demonstrated ability to deliver to project milestones.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project or Construction Management, or similar
- High level of commercial acumen and contractual awareness.
- Extensive senior leadership roles on major infrastructure construction projects
- Exceptional communicator - to all level of personnel (operator and trades through to Senior Leadership teams)
- Ability to navigate and simplify complex engineering and design into tangible work methodologies.
- Solution-oriented thinker with ability to attentively listen or confidently make decisions under high pressure situations when or as the need requires.
