About The Role

Join our OCMS Systems Engineering Team at Metro Trains, playing a key role in supporting operational technology, including the new Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) systems introduced via the Metro Tunnel Project. As a Systems Administrator and Analyst with expertise in Unix-based systems, you'll be integral to maintaining and enhancing our Unix infrastructure, contributing to data analysis using SQL and PowerBI, collaborating on train control systems and SCADA, and providing crucial on-call support. Your role is vital in ensuring the stability, security, and effectiveness of our operational technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day to day operations and maintenance for Unix-based servers.

Implement updates and patches, ensuring secure and current infrastructure.

Conduct regular audits and health checks proactively to resolve issues.

Swiftly respond to system incidents, collaborating on complex issues for efficient problem-solving.

Develop and enforce security policies, monitor logs, and conduct regular assessments.

Administer and optimise relational databases, ensuring data availability and integrity.

Create and optimise SQL queries, develop stored procedures, and validate data.

Collaborate on data integration, implement ETL processes, and troubleshoot pipelines.

Lead reporting and analysis, develop dynamic dashboards, and support data driven decisions.

Actively participate in OT Systems team meetings, providing support to other teams

Assist in various OT areas, adapting to technology trends, and exploring innovation.

Adhere to on-call schedule, document incidents and enhance processes for improved service.

About You

Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, computer science, information technology management, computer engineering or significant industry experience
Demonstrated expertise in Unix system administration.

Previous experience and knowledge working in an organisation with mission critical systems.
Strong SQL skills and proficiency in database management.
Proficiency in data reporting tools, such as PowerBI.

Strong understanding of ITIL framework and practices.
Proficiency in understanding and managing complex OT systems and networks.
