**About the opportunity**

This role will provide you with work that offers variety and opportunity to work in the large and diverse natural areas of Blacktown City.

We have a rapidly expanding Natural Areas portfolio with numerous natural assets to maintain and this role is important in shaping the future of our Natural Areas network.
- Permanent, full-time position
- Focus on bio-retention systems/ Water Sensitive Urban Design assets/ constructed waterway management.

As a Bioretention Maintenance Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking maintenance of Bioretention systems, wetlands, lakes, and associated Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets to ensure the highest level of finish that is safe and attractive to our natural areas. You will play a vital role in improving the natural environment of the Blacktown local government area.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Relevant qualifications in Horticulture or equivalent, or satisfactory completion of an indentured Apprenticeship as a Gardener
- Extensive experience in maintenance of WSUD assets, gardens and landscaped areas
- Chemical Application AQF 3 or equivalent
- Current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.

**Desirable**:

- Current MR driver’s licence
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
- Traffic Controller Implementation accreditation
- First Aid certificate.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,216.80 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, and gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
