Toowoomba Grammar School is looking for a Head of Department - Technologies who is a strategic, innovative and progressive thinker to join our team in 2024. TGS staff are passionate about boys’ education and providing an inspiring and broad curriculum for all boys informed by best practice and evidence.

**About Toowoomba Grammar School**

Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

It is our vision that our boys will graduate from TGS with the skills to be independent, well-balanced, and successful in life. That they are boys of good character who respond well to challenges and achieve life-long wellbeing.

**About the Position**

The position is responsible for leading and coordinating the development and delivery of innovative teaching programs aligned to the strategic goals and priorities of the School. This includes tracking of individual student progress and mentoring of staff to achieve academic excellence within their discipline.

As a pedagogical leader at TGS, the Head of Department - Technologies motivates, encourages and inspires the development of a strong, effective and innovative teaching team that operates ethically, with a clear focus on providing opportunities for every boy to reach his full potential. They support the members of their department in the development of professional leaning plans that are aligned to the strategic goals and priorities of the School. Building the capacity of the members of their team to meet these is a key function of this role.

TGS Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to the TGS teaching and learning framework, policies and practices of Toowoomba Grammar school.

**Selection Criteria**:
You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:

- **Educational Leadership and Vision**:Demonstrated experience in providing educational leadership and a clear vision for curriculum development and pedagogy in a secondary school setting. Proven ability to align curriculum objectives with the school's educational vision and mission, promoting an inclusive, rigorous, and forward-thinking education for boys that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st Century.
- **Leadership and Collaboration**:Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire staff to achieve excellence in their teaching practice. Demonstrated experience in building positive relationships with academic leaders, teachers, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and cooperative work environment focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
- **Innovative Integration of Technology**:Proficient in leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences, improve student outcomes, and foster creativity and innovation in the classroom.
- **Student-Centred Approach**:Commitment to the development and well-being of students, ensuring that curriculum design and teaching practices cater to individual needs, interests, and abilities, including those with diverse learning requirements.
- **Compliance and Quality Assurance**:Familiarity with Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) processes and previous or current experience in a quality assurance role. Demonstrated ability to manage academic integrity, assessment processes, and ensure compliance with relevant educational standards.
- **Continuous Professional Development**:Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and learning, staying up-to-date with educational research, trends, and best practices to enhance personal and professional growth.
- **Alignment** **with School Values and Mission**: Demonstrate your support for the aims, objectives, and ethos of Toowoomba Grammar School in both its curricular and co-curricular programs.
