Brunel Papua New Guinea are seeking a Project Biodiversity Advisor to work with our major O&G client who are one of the largest energy companies in the world, having assets in Oil & Gas, LNG and Renewable energy. The role will be a Port Moresby based opportunity (10 hours a day 5 days a week). The Project Biodiversity Advisor role objective is to assist in meeting expectations related to biodiversity and ecosystem services expectations for the project in compliance with project finance lender, PNG regulations and our clients corporate requirements.

The Project Biodiversity Advisor will interface on behalf of the Client's E&R team with Lenders, Treasurers, Global Projects, technical teams within the affiliate, FEED contractors, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, consultants, Upstream Operator and other project partners. Liaise with the Lenders’ Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC) on matters such as biodiversity and ecosystem services strategy, biodiversity action plan or management and monitoring plan, if required biodiversity offset programs and other biodiversity issues.

**About this role**
The role responsibilities are:

- Active leadership on the development and strategically implement the Project Biodiversity Management Plan (BMP) and the monitoring programs for our client as well as working with Upstream Operator with focus on the LNG Facility and activities in Caution Bay
- Provide overall leadership for environmental and biodiversity issues associated with the project
- Lead the interface with the Upstream Operator on required Environmental & Biodiversity deliverables and coordinate with the project Safety, Security, Health & Environmental (SSH&E) Team and Business Line to obtain the required endorsements
- Lead the efforts to identify biodiversity related regulatory approvals, authorizations, permits, and licenses required by the project
- Ensure that applicable environmental and biodiversity requirements/standards (both internal and external) are properly integrated into project designs and implementation plans
- Provide input to the SSH&E -related Joint Execution Plan (JEP) for EPC Contractor Invitation to Tender (ITT) packages regarding environmental and biodiversity matters
- Support with environmental and biodiversity requirements to ensure that construction, commissioning, and start-up activities
- The transition to operations fully comply with applicable national, state and local regulatory and lender requirements and the project's obligations/commitments appearing in the Environmental, Socioeconomic, and Health Impact Assessment (ESHIA), Environmental and Socioeconomic Management Plan (ESMP) or BMP, project finance agreements, and other agreements/contracts
- Coordinate the project's assorted E&B-related efforts e.g., updates of Environmental, Socioeconomic, and Health Impact Assessment, Environmental Management Plan, Biodiversity Management Plan, public consultation programs; field surveys and studies; monitoring of biodiversity performance/ESMP/BMP implementation, and compliance with project and lender standards
- Ensure the proper investigation, recording, and reporting of identified compliance initiatives and non-compliance situations regarding biodiversity and ecosystem services
- Support with interfaces with Government agencies and external stakeholders (including Lenders) regarding the preparation of the project's ESHIA and BMP, regulatory compliance issues, and biodiversity related performance/BMP implementation
- Interface with the GP SSHE Functional and GO&S group as necessary to access available environmental and biodiversity technical expertise/resources in support of project activities, identify/implement appropriate/best practices regarding biodiversity and ecosystem services matters, benefit from lessons learned, and obtain guidance related to the Environmental Business Planning process
- Ensure stewardship and reporting of biodiversity and ecosystem services performance indicators to meet project and Corporate requirements
- Communicate with, and (on an as-needed/scheduled basis) coordinate presentations to, the Project Team on the project’s issues regarding biodiversity matters
- Ensure effective communications/coordinate the flow of information between field locations and the Project Management Team, FEED and EPC Contractors regarding biodiversity matters

**About you**
- Applicants must possess a University Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Engineering or scientific or technical field related to biodiversity and ecosystem services
- 5+ years’ experience of demonstrated broad technical skills in conducting ecological/biodiversity/ecosystem services field and baseline surveys, conducting critical habitat assessments, developing and implementing biodiversity action/management plans; monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem services values
